Michael Bratman in Tanner Library. The Tanner Memorial Library, located with in the Philosophy Department, holds a core collection of philosophical monographs and journals. The library is open to members of the University community when school is in session, during the posted hours. Evelyn McMillan is the Tanner librarian.

Note: Tanner Library is closed all summer, and on weekends, holidays, and breaks between quarters.

Library Resources
The library holds approximately 10,500 books and journals to meet the needs of the faculty and graduate students in the department. There is also a reprint file of papers and offprints of faculty publications, as well as a collection of honors thesis and doctoral dissertations from department students.

Tanner Library holdings are represented in the Stanford University online library catalog, which can be accessed from the library's computers. As can a wealth of other reference and resource material, including the online version of Philosopher's Index.

Tanner Library is an ideal place for students to study. It is staffed during daytime hours Monday through Friday by the librarian with part-time student help. The library is available at all times to faculty and graduate students within the Philosophy Department.
